10 Years On
When I founded The Lord Chamberlain’s Men in 2004 I had no idea that it would burgeon into the success it has become. The first tour was small, ambitious and focused on clear and authentic story telling. Little has changed in ten years except the size and scale of the tour. We are still devoted to the highest standards and our ambitions have not dimmed in the slightest.
Ten years ago there was very little by way of quality open air touring Shakespeare. We are now the industry leaders having worked with Equity (the actors union) to create the gold standard by which all similar companies measure themselves. We have gone the entire length of the UK bringing Shakespeare to hundreds of thousands of people. It is with immense pride and satisfaction that I look back on all our past productions and look forward to another 10 years.
Finally I would like to send my thanks to all the audience members that have endured the best and worst of the British weather to support TLCM. Without an audience we are just grown men in tights shouting in a field. From everyone in the TLCM family, ‘Thank you.”
